  1. Buoys: MAPC has designed, constructed, and tested at sea numerous buoys for military and commercial use. Buoy work includes buoys smaller than 0.5 meters for metrological applications, high endurance buoys with onboard power generation, spar buoys up to 120 meters, and advanced buoys including low water plane area designs.

  2. Deep Sea Energy: MAPC has demonstrated the ability to generate electric power from the temperature difference between thermal vent effluent and surrounding sea water using thermoelectric devices. The first system was deployed at a depth of 5500 feet in waters off the Oregon coast for a period of one year. Subsequent work has expanded the concept to work on lower delta T drilled geothermal pipes that can be located in large percentages of the world’s seabed.

  3. Oyster Production Platforms: Utilizing our mechanical engineering capabilities for extreme reliability and extended maritime use, MAPC has designed, built and tested an oyster aquaculture system.

Launch & Recovery

The US Navy needed an unconventional launch and recovery system for 11-meter RHIBs, Unmanned Surface Vessels (USVs), the Remote Multi-Mission Vehicle, and other organic assets on the Independence Class Littoral Combat Ship (LCS-2 and LCS-4). MAPC successfully designed, built, installed, and exhaustively tested at-sea, an advanced and unprecedented launch and recovery system, the Twin Boom Extensible Crane (TBEC).

Taking autonomy a step further, MAPC designed systems to launch and recover an unmanned underwater vessel (UUV) and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from an unmanned surface vessel (USV).

We recently developed a system to conduct at-sea refueling of USVs. This technology enables safe remote fueling of USVs in Sea state 3+ without spillage, and without a sailor aboard the USV. This also provides the ability to fuel USVs at the mission site, thus releasing the host platform to conduct independent missions.
